Dear Hans

Thanks for your letter. Sergey Lyetov was in Leningrad last week. He’ll arrange jam session in Moscow on April 14 or 15. On April 14 in Moscow also should be avant-gardistic concert feat. The Kondrashkin-Lyetov-Makarov trio and the Kuryokhin band (Igor Butman, brothers Sologub Alex. Kondrashkin and others).

I’ve also wrote about your visit to the members of the Pyatas Vishnyauskas [Petras Vyšniauskas] quartet of Vilnius. They play at the Neringa jazz café every night, so you’ll be welcomed there.

On March 15 famous American drummer Louis Bellson performed with his quartet and with his wife – Broadway singer Pearl Bailey at the USA Consulate General in Leningrad. Before that they played in Moscow.

On March 18 we organized the first session at our new “loft”. Performed the Kondrashkin-Lyetov duo and new Leningrad group “Burg-orchester” (Andrej Matwejew, p. tb; Nikolaj Fedorovitsch, d. Waleri Suchanow, vln, cello, el.b.; Pawel Litwinow, dr, perc). I like music of the young avant-gardists and I think they are supposed to play at our concerts in the end of April.

This week Alexej Koslow’s “Arsenal” played in Leningrad: the first part of the concert – their typical Session stuff, and in the second one – poor parodies on new wave rock).

I hope we’ll meet soon. I try and get Moscow on April 14.

Yours sincerely

Sergej
